There are several things that you should consider what you’re trying to source the heavy-duty curtain rail. One consideration obviously is the length of track that you will need. Track lengths come in 10’, 8’, and 5’ sections.  If you require a track that is 100 feet long, you would simply purchase 10 sections of 10 foot track.  These would then be spliced together with connectors and bolted together.

The industrial curtain track can mount directly to a ceiling which leaves very little space between the ceiling and the curtain. Or, you can choose a threaded rod or cable connection which will allow the curtain to hang down from the ceiling several feet.  This type of mounting is very common for very high ceilings where it is not ideal to run the curtain all the way up to the ceiling. Nylon Curtain Rail Hooks are best suited for lighter curtains and steel wheel curtain rail hooks are best suited for heavier curtains which are taller than 15’ tall. The steel wheels will roll easier in the industrial curtain tracks than nylon with the heavier loads.

Curtain Mounting Hardware

There are several methods in which you can mount the curtain track to your above structure. Depending on the style of ceiling or joists that you have above, there are some considerations to take into account. Primarily, how far down do you want the curtains to hang from above, and how to interface with the heavy duty curtain track. Here are some options:

1. Threaded Rod Mount – If your curtains are going to be located farther than about 6” from the ceiling, then this method of mounting can be used. The threaded rod can span the distance between where the track is located and where the ceiling is located.
2. Ceiling Mount – If your goal is to install the curtains very close to the ceiling, then the ceiling mount style would work best. This allows for a very small gap between the ceiling and the curtain and is often the most economical and easy to install.

Sliding Industrial Curtain Hooks

Each track features a unique roller curtain hook which allows you to slide the curtain both forwards and backwards. These hooks are designed from nylon roller wheels for curtains which are approximately 20 feet high, or steel wheels for curtains which are much heavier.

The sliding curtain track hooks, are installed every 12 inches and feature a 1 inch hook that hangs down. The hooks are then placed through the grommets, which are located at the top of the curtain. Once attached, a person can simply walk the curtain from one end of the industrial track to the other.

90 Degree Corners

The industrial curtain hardware can also be supplied with 90° corner bends. This allows for one large curtain to be used rather than separate straight track sections. These 90° corner bends are supported in the same manner as the rest of the hardware. They simply bolt to the straight track sections and form a smooth transition for right angle connections.

These curtain sliders are ideal for hanging your new or used curtains and tarps.  They feature nylon or steel wheels which allow them to be pushed both forward or backwards to move the curtain from one side of the industrial curtain track to the other. Types of Industrial Grade Curtain Tracks

Each curtain track features several mounting styles which you can choose from. The structure that you have located above your curtain location,or adjacent to your curtain,will determine which mounting style work best. If for instance you have a large gap between the ceiling and the top of you curtain,then utilizing threaded rod mount, or a chain mount would be the most economical solution.

With both of these mounting styles, you are able to bridge large gaps more economically than simply purchasing larger more expensive curtains to close the gap. Also, these industrial curtain track mounts are very easy to install. Your order will come equipped with detailed installation instructions and require only basic tools to erect.

Another mounting style which is quite common, is a ceiling mount fixture.  With this mounting style, your industrial grade curtain track will attach directly to the top of the ceiling and there will be only a small gap between the top of the ceiling and the top of the industrial curtains.

The picture to the left shows this curtain hook. You will notice that on each side of the hook there are wheels. These wheels are either constructed from nylon of steel. Steel is the wheel of choice for curtains that are very heavy.

For instance, curtains that are over 15’ tall with a 30mil thickness might be best suited for steel wheels. While a curtain that is only 6’ tall could utilize the less expensive nylon wheels. We can let you know which style of hook will work best based on your application requirements.

How Many Industrial Curtain Hooks Are Needed?

As a general rule, you want to place the industrial curtain hooks every 12” on the top of the curtain. Most curtain manufacturers place grommets every 12” so your curtain should already be equipped for the hooks.

If grommets are not already present, then there are other options available to hang the curtain. We can discuss this with you and come up with a solution that works.
